๐ Human History Addressing the Sumerian issue. It's assumed that prior to the tower of babel which has been discovered, only a single language existed. I think this is a gross misinterpretation. It's more logical that the world had one unifying language or lingua franca. It's natural to assume that the original lingua franca was semitic because of the Torah and Nebuchadnezzar's later infatuation with restoring the ziggurat which he labeled borsippa literally 'tongue tower'. The break down is Bor - Tower Sippa - Lip Lip is used as an idiom for language in Semitic. Many ancient historians knew of the Babylonians and the Assyrians but did not know that an older culture existed prior to both of them. That culture was the Sumerians. The later Semitic culture was the Akkadians. There is Sumerian in Akaddian and Hebrew but the reverse is not true.
