Shishak Relief

Shishak is an Egyptian pharaoh mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, specifically in 1 Kings 14:25-26 and 2 Chronicles 12:1-12. He is believed to be Shoshenq I, who ruled Egypt during the 22nd Dynasty. Conventional dating is (945-924 BC).

  • 2970 - 👑 Rehoboam reigns
  • 2974 - 🇪🇬 Shishak Attack

1 Kings 14:25-26:

“In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem. He carried off the treasures of the Temple of the Lord and the treasures of the royal palace. He took everything, including all the gold shields Solomon had made.”
2 Chronicles 12:1-12:

“When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, this word of the Lord came to Shemaiah: ‘Since they have humbled themselves, I will not destroy them but will give them a little relief. My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem by means of Shishak, but he will become their servant so that they may know my name and the name of my chosen city.’”

Historical Significance

Shishak’s campaign is documented in both Egyptian and biblical sources. His relief at Karnak Temple in Thebes, Egypt, depicts his Palestinian campaign, including the attack on Judah and Israel. The Shishaq Relief or Bubastite Portal is one of the earliest and most significant archaeological finds confirming the biblical account. It was erected by the kings of the Twenty-second Dynasty of Egypt, also known as the “Bubastite Dynasty”.

Dating

If the Karnak inscription was concurrent with Shoshenq's campaign into Canaan, the fact that it was left unfinished would suggest this campaign occurred in the last year of Shoshenq's reign. GPC places the end of the reign of Shishak at 1024 BC. Almost 100 years earlier than conventional dating. One of the reasons why Egyptology may be off is because the Assyrians destroyed all of Egypt so the Priest's had to reconstruct everything by rote. Another interesting note is Egyptology actually relies on biblical sources for their dates. Meaning this is in fact the key event that everything is based on. I have a database with all Cross Reference points. This timeline is merely a second database.

Cross Reference

1 Kings 9:16
(Pharaoh king of Egypt had attacked and captured Gezer. He had set it on fire. He killed its Canaanite inhabitants and then gave it as a wedding gift to his daughter, Solomon’s wife.

This occurred in 2953 GPC. 248 years after Merneptah captured Gezer. The Chronology is perfect!

AI gave me the above date as Pharaoh  Siamun whose name means 'son of Amun'. He did have campaigns in Canaan. He is known for defeating the Philistines at Gezer. Many other chronologists have come to the same conclusion.

So it appears that there is no doubt that Siamun did in fact capture Gezer like Shishak that did in fact invade Canaan.

“Then the sons of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord, after Ehud died. And the Lord sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor; and the commander of his army was Sisera, who lived in Harosheth-hagoyim. The sons of Israel cried to the Lord; for he had nine hundred iron chariots, and he oppressed the sons of Israel severely for twenty years.” (Judges 4:1–3)

Merneptah must have attacked Israel during the 20 years after the Death of Ehud as evidenced by the 900 chariots of Sisera. This would have included Gezer. Gezer was attacked about five or six times by Egypt.
