Tower of Babel
According to Midrash B’reshit Rabbah (64:4) Abraham was 48 when the creator confused the languages at the Tower of Babel. This year was also the death of Peleg.
💡 Math = 1948 + 48 = {1996}
Seder Olam Rabah 1:2
Our father Abraham was 70 years old when he was spoken to (by God's presence) at the Covenant Between the Pieces as it is said *(Ex.* 12:41): "And it was after 430 years," etc. After that he was spoken to he returned to Haran, stayed there five years as it is said *(Gen.* 12:4): "And Abram was 75 years old when he left Haran." It follows that from the Dispersion until Abraham left Haran there were 26 years. These are exactly *(Gen.* 14:4-5) "12 years they served Kedorla`omer and 13 years they rebelled. And in the fourteenth year Kedorleomer came."
💡 Math = 2023 - 26 = {1997}
💡 A 1 year discrepancy❗
Seder Olam Rabah 1:2
It turns out that from the Dispersion until the birth of Isaac were 52 years. All the time Sodom was settled was 52 years, of which time it and its sister cities were in rest and quiet for 26 years.
💡 Math = 1996 + 52 = {2048}
💡 1996 is the correct date!
